Gabriella left art college in Kingston Upon Thames in the early 1990's and became a freelance illustrator working for national magazines, (decorative editorial and romantic fiction pieces); a variety of greetings card companies, before three years designing only Christmas cards and gift wrap for major high street stores. In the late 1990's Gabriella worked as the Product Manager for Card Connection Ltd where she was responsible for the whole look of the card range for two years. Much was learned during this time but Gabriella was itching to return to painting and designing full time.
Fairly soon she was commissioned by Ladybird books to illustrate her first children's book "Molly Maran and the Fox" and then went on to illustrate more books aimed at young children while painting numerous greeting card images. This she did while living in Kingston with her new (and only) husband and 5 years later, baby son. After a few months they moved to North Norfolk and now live in a bungalow 10 minutes from the sea and have a daughter too.
Working around two children proved not to be quite
as easy as doing so around a very young baby but Gabriella loves to create and
found herself designing things that had an appealing
simplicity that could be personalised as gifts. Moobaacluck was inspired by her children and their ever growing collection of toys. Gabriella still illustrates for a handful of clients and has begun to exhibit some paintings at The Garden House Gallery in Cromer. At times juggling three strands of artistic life with a young family is challenging but it is always exciting and the sense of personal achievement and connection with others is high.
